Mine's new collection is a literary fashion fantasy. Katherine Pont's new designs for Autumn-Winter 08 are catered to the artistic intelligentsia. Her 1920s deco inspired aesthetic is pristine; it is the updated version of your great-grandmother's flapper wardrobe. Her clothes are vintage personified; and it sure has been awhile since a designer could romance me to decades past.
And apparently other indie starlets like her designs as well. Au Revoir Simone, actress Rose Byrne, Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes, and Parisian singer Soko all sports the stylings of Katherine Pont. Her clothing can be seen around the world and back in boutiques in New York, Moscow, and Sydney. Lucky for us distant Mine lovers, her work can also be bought online at Sotto Boutique.
This is just absolutely one of the best era recreations I've seen in awhile, and she is one of the most exciting new designers to come around. She even designs undergarmets to place under her slip-like silk dresses. And yes, undergarmets is the right word. Her clothing makes me want to dress a part, a lifestyle, a theme. Her wonderfully frivolous designs awaken our inner Gatsbys, as she perfects bookish romance with just the right amount of erudite sophistication.
